This year I took a different approach to my Seasonal Mini Sessions, and I see it going more in this direction for the future. This year I focused on providing family updates over Christmas heavy themed. I have to admit, this made ME a lot happier. I know that lots of people enjoy the Christmas themed sessions for their Holiday cards and I truly do get it. But as a photographer the anxiety of prop shopping and scene planning year after year is something I dread. So instead of stressing myself out this year, I planned on three different locations that were completely neutral, one location had an optional add-on of a vintage Red Truck and that to me was just enough!
Hampton Park, Charleston
Hampton Park is a staple here in the photography community in Charleston. There is so much variety here, most of which is completely stunning in the mornings when backlit spanish moss becomes the star of the show. I decided on one specific location within the park and drew up a map using Google Maps for my clients to find me. We utilized one of the best oaks, and moss lined pathways for our gorgeous minis. This spot is quick, easy, and I even brought the coffee bar and snacks since we had the picnic tables there. It was a hit! And these are images that I know have looked amazing on Christmas cards, but also on client's walls year round!
Hart Meadows Ranch, Johns Island
A new to me location this year was the Hart Meadows Ranch on Johns Island. I stumbled across this location on social media just after their opening this year and took a tour. This location is STUNNING, and it was PERFECT in the morning when again- that backlit spanish moss is absolutely picture perfect. For this location I knew I had a little more time and a way of hauling larger items and props easily. This year I introduced a new cream colored settee for the garden area, and props to decorate the vintage Red Truck (provided by the property). And these images only depict one area of the property, they have an entire indoor wedding venue, a yurt a/c and heated yurt, and an outdoor lounge area by a pond. If you have explored this location for a private event or a family session, I highly recommend it!

Historic Charleston
And, obviously, if you know me at all you know I can't resist the classy Historic Charleston for another spot. The South of Broad section of Charleston is aboslutely perfect for morning light and has a ton of variety within just 100 feet.
Happy Holidays, Y'all!
I want to thank all of the amazing families that booked with me this year, some repeats, some new! It was the best year yet and I wouldn't have it any other way. For next year, keep an eye out around late August for sign-ups as I do intend to move mini session offerings earlier so that we can spread out the weekends and allow more time for back-up dates and sick dates for the kiddos.
