Once upon a time, Breanna gave Adam the wrong phone number
When Adam first contacted me about setting up a proposal for his girlfriend Breanna his inquiry form really got me. I always ask for a little story about how you met, or "your story" as a couple and Adam wrote "It's a funny and somewhat long story, it's easier to tell you over the phone. However, I'll say the first time we met she gave me the wrong phone number". I mean with that alone, how do you NOT call this guy to get more information about this? It cracked me up. Adam and I chatted that day and he told me the story about how she "messed up" her digits when they first met. Adam's persistence lead him to Facebook where he eventually found her and sent her a message. All in all that persistence paid off, because look where they are now!
He asked, and she said YES!
Pop the bubbly!
Adam had requested a bottle of champagne for the session to celebrate. So along with that I grabbed a half dozen roses to make his proposal spot with rose petals. Not only is it a romantic touch, but makes it super obvious where to drop a knee and super helpful for me when I try to stay undercover.
So when deciding on locations for proposals I know a lot of people try to go for those landmark style places in Charleston like The Battery, White Point Garden, The Pineapple Fountain, etc. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that! BUT, Adam let me give him my professional opinion on spots and being that it was the start of our booming tourist season with Memorial Day weekend, I really felt like we needed somewhere a little more private. Somewhere that wasn't going to be overrun with other proposals, kids playing in a fountain, or every Instagram Influencer taking selfies in the background. Adam and Breanna love the architecture here in Charleston, and I know where the light is best in the evenings so I recommended my favorite spot at 39 Church Street. If you look through my work, I do a lot in this section of South of Broad and it's because it's quiet, full of variety and has amazing spots of light and shade.
So once the bubbly started flowing we decided to take a walk north up Church Street area stopping at some of my favorite spots. I'm sure if you've ever walked down there you've seen some of these iconic and picturesque places. They sum up all the charm of Charleston, in my opinion of course!
ENJOY THE JOURNEY
Breanna has a bracelet she's wearing in the above image that says "Enjoy The Journey". She said she bought it for herself in NYC when she was single and just needed to remind herself of exactly that. It was funny, at one point she asked Adam if she should take it off for the session. We all collectively decided this was a part of the journey, it had every right to stay!
We ended our downtown stroll at Church and Tradd street to add a final pop of color with a little golden hour glow. It has all the colors of Rainbow Row without the foot traffic, what could be better!?
